- Pick off and destroy leaves of spinach, beets, or chard that have been tunneled by leaf miners. The leaves will have large tan splotches that are thinner than the leaf surface.
- Hose aphid-infested plants with a strong stream of water to get rid of the pests. If a few hosings don't work, use insecticidal soap spray on the affected plants.
- Use a strong water spray from the garden hose to dislodge mites and spittlebugs on junipers.

Stone fruits trees (peach, cherry, plum) may need treatment to prevent peach tree borer damage. The timing of the treatment is crucial; be sure to consult your Cooperative Extension office. CSU Fact sheets 5.566 and 2.804
