Curl leaf Mountain Mahogany is an erect, evergreen shrub, growing to 15 feet in height.

Leaves are simple, alternate, and clustered. They are small (1/2 to 1 inch long) and narrowly elliptical, thick and leathery. | |

Flowers are small, inconspicuous, trumpet-shaped, yellow and fragrant. | |

Fruit has long, twisted, plumed tails up to 2 inches in length. | |

Bark is grayish brown with deep, wide furrows and ridges that may break into plate-like scales |
