Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Golden Plains Area 4-H
Who We Are ... Perry Brewer, Area Extension Agent, Golden Plains Area

Perry Brewer ... Now!Hi! I'm Perry Brewer. I was born in 1956 in Del Rio, Texas. For the majority of my formative years, my family and I traveled all over the "Deep South" following my Dad's construction job. After 10 years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana we moved back to Texas.

In the early 70's, I participated in FFA and a little bit in 4-H. Brewster County (Texas) did not have a big 4-H program while I was there but I did participate as an independent 4-H Member and took part in the 4-H Range Plant Identification Team from Brewster County. Our team participated in many Regional and State contests. Our highest placing was third high team at the State 4-H Conference in College Station (Texas A&M). I also won a "Conservation Award" through 4-H for my leadership on the Range Team. In FFA, I served in many elected positions including Chapter President. I showed sheep as part of my FFA project and showed in many expositions (El Paso and San Angelo Stock Shows ... to name a few!).Not a bit ORNERY!

I got my B.S. degree (Range Animal Science) from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas in 1979 and my M.Ed. degree (Technology in Education) from Lesley College (off campus program) of Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1995.

I started my Cooperative Extension career as an Assistant County Agent for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service in Webb County (Laredo) Texas after graduating college. A year later my family and I found ourselves in Burlington, Colorado where I was the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Agent in charge of 4-H in Kit Carson County. In 1995 after I got my Masters Degree, I took on split technology and youth responsibilities for the Golden Plains Area including managing our GPA Web Sites!

My daughter is currently in 4-H and is taking Swine, Rabbits, Shooting Sports and a host of other projects! My wife has served as a main club leader for our club and is currently a quilting leader in the Heritage Arts project. I serve as a Shooting Sports project leader.
