Greetings 4H Club Leaders of San Miguel Basin,

This message is sent to you on September 17, 2009.

According to my sent list – several weeks ago shortly after Fair – a message was sent out to Leaders across this county to ascertain the time that we could meet and discuss rule changes – new year progress – OFFICERS and possible training – as well as club re enrollment for this new year for 4H Council.

~Due to conflicts – that meeting was in need of a cancel. ~

We Need 1 or 2 Representatives from each Club to meet
and conduct business!

I am once again attempting to gain some form of true momentum for our project areas as well as clubs and re establish a time that will work for Members, Officers, and  Leaders to meet – active leader participation and willingness to communicate will assist in generating a productive atmosphere for all. J

ITEMS THAT NEED DISCUSSION:

1. OFFICER ELECTIONS  - Senator Appointments

2.  rule adjustments and possible revisions for Fair Book

3. Year themes and ideas for enrollment increase

4. ** NEW ENROLLMENT system introduced by CSU for our Club Leaders

5. New Monthly info card system – no newsletter – all online

6. General yearly leader club kickoff questions

Meeting might be nice to answer questions which one might have ---- prior to forms due dates!

THERE IS NEVER A GOOD TIME – BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR SMOOTH YEAR AHEAD,

Email will follow shortly with DOODLE SURVEY – this device will ask each of you to select via the computer dates that will work out the best within the next month – dates with the majority of yes responses will be selected – you need to place your name on the line and chose the dates with a click of the mouse - it is as easy as that.

The Doodle survey will be sent today – look for it in your  email inbox

Thank you for your patience as we are attempting to reduce the waste of waiting time and paper costs  to get our business accomplished – this will ultimately set up our 4H program to be more efficient and paper clutter free

Blessings – as I look forward to utilizing new technology to set up a meeting date that will best serve all of our needs much more effectively.

Results from Doodle need to be posted by this Friday – Let your members know!

This note will also be posted on our county website

And you will be notified with results on Friday!

REMEMBER!!
Each Club sends 1 or more representatives
to the 4-H Council Meetings to
bring back information to their Club.

4-H Clover

WE ARE A PART OF THE AREA
DISTRICT 10 4-H GROUP!

District 10 is consolidation of the area teenage 4-H members of San Miguel, Gunnison, Ouray, Montrose, Delta, and Mesa Counties usually from the 4-H Councils that meet quarterly. They elect District Officers each year to represent our district and they have business & fun meetings in the different counties throughout the year; and then it is up to the different Counties to put on leadership trainings and workshops. Mostly older youth are involved from the local 4-H Councils, but all interested 4-H youth are encouraged to attend the meetings, workshops and trainings.
***************************************************************************
*

So... each San Miguel Basin 4-H Club is required to send at least 1 represenatives from their group of 20 or less; (2 reps for 20+member clubs) to attend each Council meetings each month. Club members attending as a delegate of their 4-H Club can participate as members and vote and make decisions on issues. They then take this information back to their club and keep them updated about the SMB 4-H Council.

The 4-H Council has a budget each year (earned by fund raisers and the Jr Livestock Sale) and the members make decisions for 4-H members & leaders' trainings, leadership trips & often times matching some of the Extension Office funding, etc. for programs like the achievement program.

REMEMBER, each club is required to send one representative to all 4-H Council Meetings and they are the ones designated to vote (excluding Officers). BUT any "interested member " (preferably 11 and up) are invited to attend the 4-H Council meetings and "get involved"!
