Vandalism and Trees

Green Ash Fraxinus pennsylvanica
7th and Kennedy, Grand Junction, CO

The following photographs are of a tree in the Grand Junction city right-of-way, at the north west corner of the American Lutheran Church, 7th and Kennedy, in Grand Junction. It appears the tree was used as an anchor to pull or move a piece of heavy equipment. Marks can be seen where a chain or cable had been wrapped around the tree. These photographs are provided in an attempt to prevent this type of damage on other trees.

This tree was approximately 27 inch caliper. The contractor was billed $8700 for the value of the tree. The tree was marked for removal.
