Colorado Desert Herb Society
The Colorado Desert Herb Society was started in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1998. Work on the herb garden was begun in 2000 when the Western Colorado Botanical Society designated a plot of ground for this purpose.

This small herb garden is currently composed of five sections, with an additional four herb beds planned for the future. The finished garden will consist of:
1) Culinary Herbs
2) Medicinal Herbs
3) Fragrance Herbs
4) Dyer's Herbs
5) Tea Herbs
6) Literary Herbs
7) Exotic Culinary Herbs
8) Women's Medicinal Herbs
9) Mints
The mints are separate and are contained within the concrete vault. Mints may be used for many purposes - for cooking, in potpourris for comfort and medicinal teas, and as a draw for bees and butterflies
We now have eight gardens in place & growing beautifully with plans to install a fence this summer. The fence will be covered with roses and other fragrant shrubs.
The 2nd annual Herb Fest will be held on June 18th, 2005 from 9am to 3pm. It is free to the public and will consist of garden tours, sampling of culinary treats, a plant sale and free demonstrations each hour.

Our appreciation and a special 'thank you' to the Desert Vista Garden Club for monies from its Mariposa Fund which enabled us to begin this herb garden.
The Colorado Desert Herb Society meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Botanical Gardens Annex, 7th and Struthers, Grand Junction, Colorado. For information contact Marilynn Sinclair (241-1065) or Lana Fergeson (245-6159).
