2008 Seedling Tree Program

• The State of Colorado has been growing trees for conservation plantings since 1913. The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) nursery, located on the foothills campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, distributes over 2 millions trees annually.
• Over 40 different species are available - from Colorado blue spruce to limber pine, green ash to wild plum. Seedling sales are restricted however. The PDF file buyers guide is available on-line.
• To qualify you must:
  1. Have two acres or more of land.
  2. Use the seedlings for conservation practices only, such as windbreaks.
  3. No seedling purchased from our nursery can be resold as a living tree or used for landscaping.
  4. Seedlings are only available in minimums of 30 to 50 depending on kind.

Seedling Tree Survival Workshops - These workshops conducted by the Colorado Forest Service will provide information on the following topics: Planning, Site Preparation, Care and Storage of Seedlings, Preparing Seedling for Planting, Hand Planting, Machine Planting, Watering, Fertilizing, Mulching, Weed Control, Wildlife Damage and Common Causes of Seedling Morality.
