New Volunteer Leader Orientation

6:30-8:30 p.m., November 18, 2009
Arapahoe County Extension, 5804 S Datura Blvd., Littleton
4-H Extension staff members teach this fun and informative two-hour orientation, which is required for all new 4-H leaders. You will learn background information on the 4-H program, helpful hints for working with your project groups and much more! RSVP to Shaylen at 303-730-1920. New leaders are also invited to schedule appointments with Shaylen to look through project manuals, ask questions and get assistance in completing forms.


Deadline to Pick Up Awards/Projects: November 30, 2009

Members are asked to pick up any unclaimed awards and projects at the Extension office by Nov. 30. Any uncollected awards will be returned to our supply inventory and state fair projects and record books will be discarded. Due to increased postage costs, we will not be able to mail any of these items.


Deadline to request National Western Stock Show guest badges: December 1, 2009

One guest badge is available per club. Clubs interested in these guest badges should call Larry at 303-730-1920


Volunteers Training for NWSS School Tours:

Arapahoe County 4-H is participating in the NWSS school visit and barn tour program. Volunteers and 4-H members, ages 14 and up, are needed to assist with greeting the classes at the National Western Complex. If you are interested and want more information, please call Larry Hooker at 303-730-1920.


Deadline to Cash Livestock Premium Checks: December 31, 2009


4-H Member Leadership Development Conference: January 22-24, 2010
All senior 4-H members (age 14-18 as of Dec. 31, 2009) are invited to attend the Leadership Development Conference, held in conjunction with the Senate/Leader meetings. There will be various workshops and also a community service project. This is a great opportunity for you to develop leadership skills, be involved at the state 4-H level and meet new friends! The 4-H Foundation offers partial reimbursement scholarships for first time attendees. 4-H staff are looking for event chaperones. If interested please contact Shaylen or Larry.


National Western Stock Show- January 9-24, 2010

Discount Tickets Now On Sale:
Discount tickets are available for groups of 20 or more for the PRCA Rodeo and Horse Shows on specific dates. Contact NWSS at 303-297-1166 for more information.


Colorado 4-H Day at the State Capitol- January 25, 2010
The Governor will issue a Proclamation for 4-H Day. Tours of the Capitol will be available as well. More information to come.


Club Financial Summaries Due: January 31, 2010

A copy of your Club’s 2009 FINANCIAL SUMMARY needs to be on file in the CSU Extension office. Please have a committee of three club members and one adult (not a leader) directly related to the club do the audit for your club’s account and complete the form. The form will be mailed to all 4-H Club Organizational Leaders in December 2009. The form must be signed by the youth audit committee chairperson and the adult on the committee, dated and returned to the Extension Office. For more information, call the 4-H office.
