Colorado families make choices and decisions
everyday--About time, money, child rearing, health, aging
parents and public issues. They make these choices and decisions
in the context of a complex and rapidly changing society and
hard economic realities. To make the best decisions and succeed,
they need practical, accurate, unbiased information. Colorado
State University Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer
Sciences Agents integrate both the University and community
resources to provide education that helps families succeed.
Family and Consumer Sciences
Extension Agents are committed to helping families
succeed through educational programs and resources, in-service
education for family professionals and by preparing paraprofessionals
to work with families.
CSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agents serve every
county in the state and work in partnership with the CSU campus
faculty to provide research-based up-to-date information on
important topics that affect families across the life cycle.
They transmit information through newsletters, workshops,
radio and television programs, newspaper columns, meetings
and group and person-to-person contacts. They also offer specialized
publications, computer-assisted instruction, telephone hotline
and educational programs delivered by satellite and interactive
cable.
The educational efforts of the professional and paraprofessional
staff are enhanced through networking, collaborations, and
partnerships with dozens of local and state agencies and organizations.
