Computer Applications Training Resources

Welcome to the CSU Extension Computer Applications training resources page. Here you will find links to recorded Connect trainings, online training videos, instructional CDs, PowerPoint presentations, and articles published in C&T News.

Connect trainings.  Adobe Acrobat Connect is a live, on-line meeting room where many CSU Extension trainings are held. Trainers can share their computer screen, video and documents in real time, and participants can interact with the trainer via phone and chat functions. Participants can also be "promoted" to a trainer so they can share their own documents, video and computer screens with everyone else. These live trainings are usually recorded. To the left is the link to the collected recordings of the Connect sessions hosted by the CSU Extension Technology Unit.

The Technology Toolbox blog.  This blog provides an informal discussion of tricks, tips, and new technology tools available to CSU Extension employees, with an emphasis on free, cheap and open source tools.  It is updated at least once a weeek, and co-written by all the members of the Technology Unit staff.

On-line tutorials.  We have posted our most popular video trainings - Blue Ribbon, Acrobat and Photoshop - on-line so they can be easily accessible to everyone in CSU Extension.  These video trainings use screen captures to show how software will look and behave on your own computer.  Each is between 2 and 12 minutes long.  The videos can be used as a reference for specific skills, or viewed as a set for a complete course.

Multimedia CDs.  We have a 15 CD library of video trainings on many different computer applications and skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Photoshop, ImageReady, Blue Ribbon, Firefox, Thunderbird, and HTML/CSS.These video trainings use screen captures to show how software will look and behave on your own computer.  Each is between 2 and 12 minutes long.  The videos can be used as a reference for specific skills, or viewed as a set for a complete course.

Class PowerPoints.  Archived on this site are the class PowerPoints used for all our in-person computer application workshops: Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat, and HTML/CSS.  Some are available as web-based presentations; all are available for download (MS PowerPoint is required to view the downloads).

C&T News articles.  We've collected many articles first published in C&T News, dealing with specific computer issues in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Acrobat.  See the webpage for a complete listing of topics.
