Master Gardener Program
The
Colorado Master Gardener Program is a volunteer training program
designed to help the El Paso County office of Colorado State University
Extension meet the increasing demands of the gardening public for
problem solving and research-based information.
The Master Gardener Program enables CSU Extension staff to reach
out in the community with more effectiveness and to a larger number
of individuals than ever before.
Individuals with an interest in both volunteer service and horticulture
who wish to enhance their knowledge are eligible for the program.
No previous horticultural experience or training is necessary.
The program offers over 75 hours of classroom instruction, and
the classes start in early January and run through April. Fifty
hours of volunteer time are required from April, upon completion
of the training, through October. The application process for the
2008 class has been completed; information on the 2009 class application
process will be posted here in September 2008.
Admission to the program is competitive - based on an application
and in person interview. Spaces in the class are limited. However,
we offer many gardening classes to the public throughout the year.
