Soil and What Every
Homeower Should Know About Irrigation
Steve will explain how to determine which soil type you have and what soil amendments will improve your gardening success. Joe will discuss how to apply the basic principles of irrigation to your landscape. You will learn about sprinkler system components, design principles, installation techniques, repair tricks and general maintenance. The session will address both lawn/turf irrigation and drip/low-volume irrigation for planting beds and trees.

High Altitude Gardening
Gardeners in northern El Paso County and Teller County have some different challenges to conquer; shorter season, harsher weather, more wildlife, soil issues and mostly USDA hardiness zone 4. Intrepid gardeners from your part of the world will discuss what works and what does not. (Later this spring, participants of this class will be invited to a bonus garden tour held in the Monument area.) |

Irrigation and Water Rationing
Most northern El Paso County water districts will adopt water rationing in 2007. Because of declining underground water resources, these restrictions are expected to be in place indefinitely. This presentation will provide invaluable information about making changes to your landscape and irrigation system to save water and improve the health of your grass and plants. |
