Gear Tech Training for youth and adults, contact the Extension Office if you are interested.
Food Safety Training Option …Some individuals have indicated the July 8 training for adults new to the 4-H Concession Stand conflicts with scheduled vacations. This training is required for ALL adults who are helping supervise youth in the concession stand. If you are not able to attend on July 8, you may want to attend the ServSafe Food Handlers’ training in Brush at the fairgrounds 4-H Building on Thursday, June 6. This training is designed for food service establishments, but would also meets the 4-H requirement. The training is 9 am to 3 pm and includes lunch. Normal registration for food service establishments is $35 and $50 but a special price of $15 would be available just for 4-H parents/leaders. There is a limit on registration numbers for the training so if you are interested in attending, call Luann by May 24,
Luann is also available to come to your club to do the 4-H Food Safety Training. The time needed is 90 minutes. A training for your club would need to be conducted by June 10. Other leaders/parents who have already completed the hands-on training are welcome to attend as a refresher, BUT they will still need to complete the Refresher Quiz available July 1. Call Luann (542-3544) to visit about presenting at your club between now and very early June. This does not have to be during your regular club meeting – in fact it is usually better if scheduled for a different time.
Clothing Workshop and Consumer Choices. The Clothing Construction Workshop for Saturday, June 1 is still scheduled from 9 to 12. This will be the last day available to work at the Extension Office, BUT Luann is always willing to work with individuals or answer questions about construction. Call with questions OR to set up an appointment to have her work with youth - she is often out doing other programs. Her direct phone is 542-3544 and you can leave a voice mail with your need.
Sparkle - Glitz- Glitter - the Artistic Clothing Workshop is Wednesday, June 5 at 1:30 at the 4-H Building in Brush. All enrolled in Artistic Clothing should have received a flyer this week. We will be doing lighted designs on t-shirts as well as other techniques to make your outfit a real winner!!!
Help for an Entomology 4-H Project (or other Natural Resources project). Carol O’Meara, CSU Extension Horticulture Entomologist for Boulder County will be at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, 4-H Building, on June 8 from 1:30-3 teaching 4-H youth how to ID insects to their order. Anyone who is interested should call Rich at (970) 542-3540.
Photography Workshop for 4-H Photography Members … On April 29, there will be a photography workshop for 4-H members from 4:15 pm – 5:30 pm. Amy Ely and Mikayla Klimper will be helping 4-H members get started.
A Chance to Host … In the summer and fall of 2013, Colorado will be hosting 11 IFYEs from 10 countries. The youth will stay with you for 2-3 weeks. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about another country without leaving home! It’s also a great chance to explore the Global Citizenship 4-H project as well. The goal is for these exchange participants to learn about everyday life in the United States by participating in the home stay experience. All delegates have medical insurance and personal spending money. For more information about the youth or if you want to host, contact us, and we will give your name to Courtney Loflin, our state coordinator for this program. Here’s a quick overview of the youth: Austria – Katharina Hallinger (female, 19): July 2 – August 12; Austria – Anna Theresa Pirchner (female, 19): July 2 – August 12; Germany – Felix Tremohlen (male, 19): July 9 – September 9; Greece – Michaela Kontou (female, 16): June 17 – July 29; Finland – Jennie Salo (female, 24): June 17 – August 4;
