Meat Quality Assurance Program – May 12

4-7 pm. Multipurpose Bldg, MC Fairgrounds.  Takes approx 1 hour.

 

Earthworm Survey -

Dr. Cranshaw from Colorado State University is doing a survey of earthworms in Colorado and is hopeful 4-H club members will collect earthworms.  Let me know if you can help with this.

 

4-H Junior Camp

Don’t miss out on an exciting adventure this summer.  Join us at 4-H Junior Camp, June 16 – 19 in southern Colorado.  A registration form is enclosed in the April 4-H newsletter.  We will be spending 4 packed days exploring the Sand Dunes, riding the train at Antonito, rock hunting at Creede and attending the theatre at Creede.  It will be a 4-H Camp experience that you won’t forget.

 

Attention Heritage Arts Members - Or Others

If you'd like to learn basket weaving, a day-long class will be held Saturday, June 20, at Extension Center meeting room.   Each person will make an Appalachian style egg basket.   Registration fee of $20 covers all materials and instruction - bring your own lunch and drinks.   There are just a couple spaces available - so don't wait if you'd like to do this.  Sponsored by High Plains Spinners and Weavers - call JoAnn Pierce at 842-2130. 

 

Host Families Needed

 Agriculture in the Classroom – Summer Institute

 Fort Morgan on June 15-19

At this time six host families are needed to host out of town teachers.  They are attending this program to learn more about agriculture and incorporate it into their classrooms.  If you can help, please give me a call.  Thanks – Janice

 

2009 Shooting Sports Family Campout: June 19-21, 2009   

This is an opportunity for families to meet each other and have a good time. The fun begins Saturday with youth/parent/leader teams, selected at random. Shooting events will be educational but FUN-oriented.

 

2009 Flagler YHEC Event!

The 2009 YHEC (Youth Hunter Education Challenge) event is being co-sponsored by the Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Kiowa & Yuma County 4-H Shooting Sports Programs and will be held at the Flagler Lake State Wildlife Area in Flagler Colorado on May 2 & 3, 2009. The registration deadline is April 24, 2009.

The event Challenges consist of: Muzzleloading Challenge, Light Rifle Challenge, Shotgun Challenge, Archery Challenge, Hunter Safety Trail Challenge, Orienteering Challenge, Wildlife ID Challenge and Hunter Responsibility Challenge.

Archery practice is scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 4-6 pm at Jon Flair’s home 28294 MCR Y in Snyder.  Practice Dates:    MAY 5 & 19   JUNE 2, 16 & 30

 

Archery practice is scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 5:30 pm at Paul Oliveira’s home  12710 MCR W.5 in Weldona.   Practice Dates:    MAY 14 & 28   JUNE 11 & 25

 

AIR RIFLE SHOOTING

Practices will be held from 6—8:30 pm. at the Multi-Purpose Building at the Morgan County Fairgrounds.  If you have questions, please call Steve Kehm 542-9291 or George Trujillo 542-9134.

2009 4-H Truck Raffle

Colorado 4-H has received a donated Ford F150 to be used as a 4-H fundraiser.  The truck has a large “wrap” with slogans on it and small 4-H clovers on each side.  Tickets are one for $5 or five for $20, tickets are now available.
