Record Books are Important in 4-H!
ATTENTION:

All Family Consumer Science, General Projects, Livestock, Horse and Pocket Pet Record Books are ALL going to be E-RECORDS this year!

Go to the website www.colorado4h.org
and scroll down
to the bottom of the page to E-RECORDS UPDATED!
Scroll down the page and find what project you are looking for:

*Pocket Pets, Dog and Horse are under Livestock.

*General and Natural Resources include Wildlife, Shooting Sports, Leathercraft, Rocketry.

*Family and Consumer Science includes Clothing and Foods Projects, etc.

What is an E-record?

An E-record is an Electronic Record Book.

This means that you can go to the 4-H Website, download the record, save it to a name you will remember, and then you can work on it in a Word or Word-type program. Then at Fair time, you print it out after being typed in on the computer or your can print it out and write on it by your own penmanship in either pencil or pen, and turn it in at the proper time to the
Extension Office or bring with your project to interview judging.
If you don't have a microsoft word, you can download for free openoffice.org and use it for your records
or stop by our office and we can give you one on a CD for $1.00

REMEMBER:
Completed Horse, Pocket Pets & Livestock records are due to the Extension Office in 2nd Monday in August by 4 pm. Date to be posted later.

Pocket Pet Books are to be completed as much as possible and brought the the Pocket Pet Show at Fair. After the show, complete your records and turn they in at the same time as the livestock and horse books!

**RULES FOR COMPLETING 4-H PROJECTS**

All enrollment forms, code of conduct, health forms, photo release, and youth meat quality assurance certification forms must be completely filled out and signed by member and parent/guardian and turned into the
CSU Extension Office in Norwood.

RE-ENROLLMENTS ARE DUE December 18th, 2009. ALL NEW ENROLLMENTS
ARE DUE TO THE EXTENSION OFFICE BY on April 15th, 2010 IF YOU ARE TO COMPLETE AT THE SMB FAIR.
4-H LATE FEES WILL BE ENFORCED THIS YEAR.

(The following rules apply only to regular age 4-H members-not Cloverbuds.)

  • Attend at least six (6) regular club meetings, one activity, and a community service project.
(4-H is a year around activity, i.e. 12 months, so six meetings are only one half of them.)

  • All members must give a demonstration for every project you are enrolled in, if possible. If you are in more than one project, 4-Hers can just do one demonstration on one of your project areas.

  • All members must compete in a SMB Fair Showmanship class or Interview Judging for each project.

  • Records for animal projects must include all animals in project from the time of enrollment until completion of project. This includes any and all animals brought to initial weigh in for livestock, multiple breeding stock, or multiple horses, dogs, or pets. Your profit/loss for a livestock project includes all animals/inventory you start and/or end with.

  • Members will have the opportunity to attend a Record Book Workshop to assure all members grade at least a 70% on their record books. They must also attend a "thank you" note writing class.

  • After fair, livestock, horse and pocket pet record books must be completed and turned in on time with a thank you card (addressed and stamped) to buyers for the purchase of any market animal(s)sold. When grading is completed, all records must achieve at least a 70% or better for member to re-enroll the next year in that project.
