Several sources of information are available on the biology and distribution of wildlife in Colorado. We suggest searching for information on the internet using terms such as “Colorado” and “birds”, or “mammals”, or “amphibians”, or “reptiles”. The following web sites provide useful information:
Colorado
Division of Wildlife - Coexisting
With Wildlife, contains coexisting links for wildlife. Wildlife
Conservation & Management. Wildlife means all non-domesticated animals which
live outdoors, including mammals, birds, and fish, which may be hunted as controlled
by law. Some wildlife will never be seen by man their entire life. Why should
man want to, or have to, manage wildlife? Colorado Natural Diversity Information Source
(Lists the occurrence and abundance of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles in each county of Colorado).
Colorado Division of Wildlife - Wildlife Profiles and Information. Provides information on the biology of mammals, Birds, Fish, Reptiles/Amphibians, and Invasive Species in Colorado.
The
Northern Prairie Wildlife
Research Center contains information on bird identification, distribution,
and biology. Peterson
Field Guide on line contains information on bird identification. Visit your school or public library to learn more about the wildlife. Look in the catalog under "mammal", “bird”, “amphibian”, “reptile” or "wildlife." Also browse the shelves for interesting titles.
